Baptism (also called Christening)

To enquire about you or your child being baptised at All Saints, Leek Wootton, please contact Jim Perryman (Priest-in-Charge).  Baptisms take place as part of our normal Sunday morning services.  We do not arrange Baptisms at other times.  Specific dates will not normally be discussed prior to a home visit.  Because of practicalities, it may be some months before a suitable date can be offered so please make initial enquiries in good time.  Adults seeking baptism would be expected to attend some form of preparation course and show evidence of their Christian faith.

It may be that you would prefer to opt for a service of Thanksgiving, either as a preliminary to, or in preference to, Baptism.  A service of this type can be organised at short notice and at a date and time convenient to the family outside of Sunday services.  Information about the Thanksgiving service can be found here:

Please be aware that Baptism (Christening) is normally only offered to those who live within the parish or to those who are regular worshippers.  If you have a strong family connection with the parish, then we would consider your request, but would still recommend that you seek Baptism in your home parish.  We would, in any case, need to get the good will of the incumbent of your home parish before agreeing to any request.

Information about the Baptism service can be found here:

Weddings/Marriages

To enquire about getting married at All Saints, Leek Wootton, please contact Jim Perryman (Priest-in-Charge).

There are legal regulations which determine whether you are able to be married in a particular parish.
These regulations are outlined alongside.

If you do not meet these criteria, we are not legally able to offer a marriage service in our Parishes, although we might be able to offer a service of blessing after civil marriage instead.

If either party has been previously married, with a previous spouse still living, or is a foreign national, or is not resident in the UK, there may be other issues to be dealt with before any arrangements can be made.  Please ensure that you volunteer this information in your initial enquiry to avoid any potential misunderstandings.

Funerals and Burials/Burials of Ashes

We consider it our privilege to be able to assist the bereaved within, or closely associated with, our parish.  Jim Perryman and Audrey Rowberry are both available to help with offering compassion and spiritual guidance, with the arrangements for funeral or memorial services, and with the interment of ashes within the churchyard.

We will always do what we can, within the regulations that cover such issues, to fulfil the wishes of the family or of the deceased.  A church service is always possible, as is the interment of ashes poured within the Garden of Remembrance, for any who have a link to the parish, but there are stricter regulations related to those times when we can offer burial of coffins or caskets of ashes.

We are also bound by regulations regarding the placing of memorials within the churchyard meaning that we have limited delegated authority to give permission without the need to refer to the Diocesan authorities.

To help you in your thinking or planning, you can find a selection of the regulations below.
